Strawberries Simple Syrup
One of my favorite farms I discovered in the past couple of years is called Phillips Farms located in the State of Jersey close to the town of Milford. I’ve been going here during the summer and fall to get some of the best produces. From fruit, and vegetables to tasty pies and bread and amazing dairy product. To absolutely try is the orange milk made with oranges it’s incredibly tasty and only available toward the end of summer and fall. During the end of the month of May and most June they have pick your own strawberries which is a fun activity to do even all alone. Went during the last week of their pick your own in June and went back home with 8lb of bright red, juicy and sweet strawberries. I used them to make a few recipes, a strawberry pie, syrup and macerated strawberry which are great on top of vanilla ice cream and call me crazy even paired with a burrata with some basil leaves.
Strawberry Syrup Recipe:
2 cups of fresh strawberries hulled and chopped
1 cup of water
2 cups granulated sugar
Instructions:
Bring the water and strawberries to boil in a saucepan for about 10 min.
Removed all the solids and then add the 2 cups of sugars, make sure all sugar is dissolved.
Let it cool before adding to a glass jar. For a clearer syrup free of seeds and fruit use a fine mesh strainer and pour into jars then refrigerate.
